Decisions about Amazon Mobile Analytics, Google Analytics, and Mixpanel

We have integrated Panelbear on our Website, rather than Google Analytics, because it is way more respecting of the User's Privacy. Whilst Google Analytics gives us in-depth information on virtually everything, we don't even need that much. Panelbear keeps it simple and in addition to that, displays the data well structured in a simple and intuitive dashboard

      Google Analytics

Google is an amazing free tool and is extremely customizable. I use it for A/B testing (using google content experiment), Lean Analytics (measuring goals based on events), and it's new asynchronous JS has made a lot of tracking easier.

However it takes a lot more configuration to set up cohort studies and user based analytics than other analytics platforms. It is possible to do however: http://analytics.blogspot.ca/2013/03/get-useful-insights-easier-automate.html

If you need something free this is definitely your best option.

      Review of
      Mixpanel

I am using Mixpanel in a Saas App, it's the most advanced analytics platform ever. I have used similar products in the past and Mixpanel beats every other product out there.

The main feature I like is the funnels, which give some actionable insights regarding my product, I was able to make feature decisions based on this. I was even able to make critical decisions regarding the work flow.

Also now with their People feature , I am able to automate email notification based on users activity.

How developers use Amazon Mobile Analytics, Google Analytics, and Mixpanel
      Lee Munroe uses
      Mixpanel

Using Mixpanel to track events tells me what language users are switching to, what the most popular themes are and how often users are starting video chats. It also gives me a tool to experiment quickly with "fake" buttons and see if users click them. This enables me to validate the need for new features before fully building them out.

      Lawrence Cheuk uses
      Google Analytics

I mainly use it to trace how many user using it before my site get monetized, at the age before smartphone and we only have web site, now I look at the profit rather than web page visited. As web page is not the single interface now. Android, iOS, Web. Wasting time to set up one by one. so I just simply look at revenue.

We use Google Analytics to see in which countries we're having most success, and in which demographics. We offer users the possibility to opt out of Google Analytics by setting the Do Not Track feature in their browser, because we want to respect user privacy.
