Stripe vs Zoho Subscriptions: What are the differences?
Introduction
Stripe and Zoho Subscriptions are both online payment processing platforms that can be used to manage subscriptions and recurring payments for businesses. While they have similar functionalities, there are some key differences between these two platforms.
Pricing Model: Stripe offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model, where users pay a transaction fee for each successful payment. On the other hand, Zoho Subscriptions has a tiered pricing model based on the number of customers and features, offering different plans with fixed monthly fees.
Integration Ecosystem: Stripe has a vast integration ecosystem with various third-party services, including popular e-commerce platforms, accounting software, and more. This allows businesses to connect Stripe with their existing tools easily. Zoho Subscriptions, although it offers some integrations, has a more limited ecosystem compared to Stripe.
Payment Methods: Both Stripe and Zoho Subscriptions support major credit and debit cards. However, Stripe also supports alternative payment methods like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and various local payment methods, making it more versatile in terms of payment options. Zoho Subscriptions, on the other hand, offers fewer alternative payment options.
API and Customization: Stripe provides a powerful and developer-friendly API, allowing businesses to have more control over the payment process and customize it according to their specific needs. Zoho Subscriptions also provides an API but offers limited customization options compared to Stripe.
Invoicing and Tax Support: Stripe offers a comprehensive invoicing system, allowing businesses to generate and send customized invoices to customers. It also provides built-in tax calculation and management features. Zoho Subscriptions also offers invoicing capabilities, but the invoicing system is more basic compared to Stripe's. Tax support in Zoho Subscriptions may require additional integrations or customization.
Customer Portal: Stripe provides a customer portal where customers can manage their subscriptions, update payment methods, and view past invoices. Zoho Subscriptions also offers a customer portal but with fewer customization options compared to Stripe.
In summary, Stripe offers a more flexible pricing model, broader integration ecosystem, support for a wider range of payment methods, more robust API and customization options, comprehensive invoicing and tax support, and a feature-rich customer portal compared to Zoho Subscriptions.
We use GoCardless to simplify the way clients and partners pay for our services. What intrigued us is the quick and easy ACH feature that gives our clients the option to log in with their bank account and shoot the funds directly to our account. The fee, compared to Stripe is less. Stripe and PayPal charge 2.9% + 30c and Stripe also forces the client to enter in all of their payment details manually and then if the payment doesn't work, the client has to try all over again. GoCardless charges 1% + 25c which is much more reasonable dealing with the large projects that we are currently working on.
We integrate GoCardless with Xero to easily send out quick invoices, receive the funds and track all revenue in one place.
