MariaDB vs peewee: What are the differences?
Developers describe MariaDB as "An enhanced, drop-in replacement for MySQL". Started by core members of the original MySQL team, MariaDB actively works with outside developers to deliver the most featureful, stable, and sanely licensed open SQL server in the industry. MariaDB is designed as a drop-in replacement of MySQL(R) with more features, new storage engines, fewer bugs, and better performance. On the other hand, peewee is detailed as "A small, expressive ORM -- supports postgresql, mysql and sqlite". A small, expressive orm, written in python (2.6+, 3.2+), with built-in support for sqlite, mysql and postgresql and special extensions like hstore.
MariaDB can be classified as a tool in the "Databases" category, while peewee is grouped under "Object Relational Mapper (ORM)".
MariaDB and peewee are both open source tools. peewee with 6.57K GitHub stars and 1.09K forks on GitHub appears to be more popular than MariaDB with 2.79K GitHub stars and 856 GitHub forks.
We actually use both Mongo and SQL databases in production. Mongo excels in both speed and developer friendliness when it comes to geospatial data and queries on the geospatial data, but we also like ACID compliance hence most of our other data (except on-site logs) are stored in a SQL Database (MariaDB for now)
