  • Simple to use but user accounts could be handled better.

    November 15, 2014 02:14

Slack is gorgeous and runs on multiple platforms - that's benefit #1. You can easily talk on your iMac then switch to your Android device on the fly.

The one thing I don't really like about it is how it handles multiple organization accounts.

I am a software consultant so I typically work with multiple teams over the months and it's odd to 'log into the right account'. It's not intuitive at all.

I would like there to be a way for users to easily pick a 'Persona' and not accidentally post to the wrong company.

  • Ambitious project bogged down by an ill-advised tech stack.

    February 03, 2015 13:43

Atom is a great editor that feels very familiar if you're used to Sublime Text. The UI is almost copied verbatim and you will feel right at home.

It comes with a package manager built right into the system, with plugins as a first class citizen.

All of this greatness comes to a screeching halt though:

    1. You cannot open files larger than 2MB.
    2. It's built on Webkit so it's slow as molasses.

  • When you want a CI and you want sane defaults that help you.

    May 13, 2015 01:20

Codeship has easily been the easiest CI I've ever used.

Set up is a no-brainer, you can customise it but most people won't even need to - and that's where Codeship shines. You want a CI and you want to work on your product not waste time tweaking config files. Really awesome pricing too!

  • Makes developing APIs easy.

If you're building an API service, this Chrome extension is a must-have. It'll let you ping your endpoints using a nice clean UI that's built right into Chrome. You can also share your previous requests - a simple way to 'document' your API if you're short on time.

  • Enterprise UI for React applications - works with ES6 out of the box

    February 15, 2017 21:41

Really simple to install and works as you expect it to out of the box.

Ant Design has a lot of different components to choose from, and they looks fantastic. Very enterprise, very polished. This isn't Twitter Bootstrap.

A great thing about a lot of the components is that they take other React components as children. So you can nest, and mish-mash the content to your hearts content.

If you're building something, take a look at Ant Design - it may increase your output speed significantly and make your app not look "MVP".
