2014 was a big year for us; we relaunched as StackShare and introduced a whole new way for you to share knowledge about the dev tools and services you use. Last year we did a short post about the top 10 services of the year, based on page views. This year we’re able to rank the top tools and services of the year based on what the StackShare community has voted on and said that they use for their applications and infrastructure. In total, there were over 31,000 votes for 1,500 approved tools and services. Thanks to everyone that joined the StackShare community this past year, we've got big plans for 2015!

Top 50 Developer Tools & Services of the Year

Methodology: these rankings are based on a score that is a combination of the following weighted values: number of one-liners, number of votes for those one-liners, number of reviews, number of stacks that tool/service is included in, and number of favorites. This score is meant to indicate how popular a tool or service is. The top groups and categories are simply based on the aggregated sum of the score of the tools and services in each group or category.
